Shenanigans and #FTYF

Happy Monday everyone! In my last blog I said I was going to write a post on Friday about Flex Till You’re Famous. Well, Friday was pretty hectic and I didn’t get around to it. I was really hoping to because they had a drop that night. But because I love this company so much I’m still going to do it. Plus they just said they are going to do a “Closet Clean-out” release this week. I love when they do this because you have a chance to get some stuff that you may have missed out on before. I also want to state that I am in no way sponsored by them(but doesn’t mean I’m against it ). This post is my own thoughts and I have purchased all of this apparel on my own.

So who is Flex Till You’re Famous? You can read there official story here. I want to talk about who they are to me. I first found #FTYF back in June of last year. I found them on Instagram through someone I follow. I was first drawn to them for their bright color shirts and the motivational words on them. Some of the shirts they had at the time were, “Flex Till You’re Famous, Drop it like a Squat, Suns Out Guns Out and Bench Please”. I love bright colors and I love wearing them to the gym because it helps put me in a good mood. I started following them on Instagram and I may have stalked them quite a bit, but in a non creepy way. I was anxious to get my hands on some of their gym apparel. I could not wait till their next drop. I have to say when I found out their apparel wasn’t available immediately i got bummed out. But the suspense leading up to their next drop just got me really excited. While I was stalking them I felt like I got tot know Chris and Codee more. It gave me time to find out who they really are and what their company is all about. I have never met either one of them but I feel like they are the most humble and down to earth people. Not to mention they have the cutest little boy, Cash. Definitely going to be a heart breaker when he gets older! Chris seems like just a cool guy to be around and always in a good mood. When you see him post a video on Instagram, be ready for a good laugh! Then when I see him and Codee in their pictures they are always laughing. They remind me not to take life too serious! Knowing that the people behind this company are as genuine as they come made me want to support them even more.

At the end of June they had a release and I was able to snag myself some shirts. I got a tank and a t-shirt and I got the shirt free because I was one of the first 100 orders. I was so excited when I received my gear. I couldn’t wait to get on Instagram and show my support to them and officially become part of the #FTYF family. Below is my first purchase from #FTYF:

I have been hooked every since that drop. I’m sure you’re aware of this if you follow me on Instagram.  I have a drawer dedicated to my #FTYF shirts and my husband know thinks I’m obsessed( he’s probably right, but don’t tell him!). Since June I have watched #FTYF grow and become so successful. I couldn’t be happier for them. They are the type of people you want to see succeed and live their dream! I know some people can get aggravated with the “drop” style that they do for their releases. There have been sometimes I couldn’t make it due to other commitments, but overall it doesn’t bother me. It makes it exciting! They’ve also started keeping some staple items in stock and readily available. So they do listen to their fans and they are making some changes.

This past Friday they did a release and I was able to get everything I wanted. Shenanigans were definitely involved since I wasn’t at home. I was in Nashville andI was running all over the hotel trying to find the business center so I could use their computer to get my stuff. I had my phone but at times its been tricky get my order in before things sell out. Well the business center wanted to charge me to user their computer. I was at the OMNI, not only did they not give us free wifi they wanted to charge me to user their computer. Definitely not impressed. So ended up using my phone and thank goodness I didn’t have any issues. But I was sweating bullets thinking I was going to miss out on my stuff! Yes, I take it that serious!! haha

He is what I snagged:

I can’t wait for it all to come in!

I want to share #FTYF motto with you”

It isn’t about BEING famous- it’s about FEELING famous.
It doesn’t matter WHERE in your fitness journey you are.
The most important part is that you have made the choice to start.

That right here sums it all up. You don’t have to be famous or even fill that way. Everyone starts somewhere and we all take different roads in our life. The most important part is you started!

I highly suggest you check them out. You can find them on Instagram and Facebook. Trust me you won’t regret it! Plus you will just love all of their apparel! It’s bright and motivational!

Be sure to keep an eye our for their “Closet Clean-Out” release this week. You will be able to snag yourself some previous released items!

Much Love,

Dani

Lone Survivor, Workouts & Closet Clean Out

Friday night the hubs and I decided to have a date night. It’s been a while since we actually had a full date night like dinner and a movie. Where I live our theater has a restaurant inside the building and you can also drink(alcohol) and eat your dinner while watching the movie. This particular section is 21+ with nice leather recliners, its really nice. We didn’t opt for that this time around but we did eat at the restaurant before hand. They have some of the best sushi(I devoured it and then remembered I need to take a pic)! My husband and I each got a roll and we split some cumin fries. I also got a Blue Moon; its my favorite beer. Its been a while since I had one so I thought why not.

The bar lit up which was pretty cools as well.

We ended up seeing the Lone Survivor. I had been hearing such great things about the movie so I was really excited to see it. It did not disappoint and I really enjoyed it. Military movies always make me emotional because they hit home for me. My dad has been in the Army for over 20 years and has been to Afghanistan and Iraq. Thankfully nothing has ever happened to him. Those types of movies I know walking into them I will cry. Thank you to all the military men and women who have served and continue to serve our country!

As usual I started my Saturday morning off with a workout. I did a jump rope circuit and then worked Shoulders, triceps and chest. I am loving the song “Flawless”, by Beyonce. I randomly will walk through the house saying, ” I woke up like this, I woke up like this. “. Yes, I’m a dork.

If you are looking for a new cardio circuit to try. Give this jump rope circuit a go, trust me it will get your heart pumping. It’s from PBFingers.com. She puts together some great workouts!

Later that day it was time to break out my new hangers. I found these bad boys at target. They were $8.99 for 35 hangers, I bought two boxes. These hangers are great for shirts and dresses that slip of the hanger. No more random shirts falling in my closet and no more awkward shoulder bumps in my shirts from the hanger. Plus while switching out my hangers I got rid of a bunch of stuff I don’t wear anymore. I kind of felt like I was spring cleaning, but unfortunately its not that time of year yet. 😦

Oh and of course Roxy had to be right in the middle supervising and checking to see if there are any birds she can bark at.

Sunday was laid back. I got up pretty early and cooked some breakfast. Below is Roxy begging for some bacon. She’s hoping that sweet little face will make me give in.

I ended up laying on the couch being lazy till it was time to take the hubs to the airport. He’s headed to San Fran this week for work. So it will just be me and the pups spending some quality time together.

Did you do anything fun this weekend or try anything new?

Have you seen Lone Survivor yet?

Happy New Year- Catch Up

hello

First I would like to start off with saying I can’t believe it has been since last September when I wrote my last post. That seems like forever ago! Yes, go on and say it I am a terrible blogger. Well, I don’t even know if you could call me a blogger anymore. It definitely shows that I have neglected this blog and haven’t nurtured it in quite sometime. Shame on me!!

Now that I got the obvious out of the way I would like to say Happy New Year! I mean its not to late so say that, right? We are 11 days into the new year. How is your new year going? Are you sticking to your new year resolutions, goals, list or whatever it may be that you like to do? I hope you are crossing things off your list left and right and smashing your goals!

2013 was such a great year for me. So many wonderful things happened and some of them I am still in awe about. Let’s do a quick recap of the highlights that happened to me in 2013.

house house2 house3

David and I bought our first home! I am still in love with it just like it was the first day I saw it. I am sharing a picture of my closet because it one of my favorite places in the house. I can’t help it, I have always wanted a closet like this!

Shortly after moving into the new house( 2 weeks) Roxy tore her ACL. She had to have surgery and it broke my heart. She was so pitiful!

marathon

In April, I ran my first 1/2 marathon in Nashville Tennessee! It was a great accomplishment but it wasn’t the funnest thing I have ever done. It rained the WHOLE time and I don’t mean it sprinkled. It was a non stop constant rain and it was cold! After I finished I was drenched head to toe with not a dry spot on my body. I was pretty miserable. When I look back I like to tell people that I am a badass because I ran a 1/2 marathon in the rain. Makes me sound hardcore, right?

Aniversary

2013-05-13 12.56.18

In May David and I celebrated our two year Anniversary. This is also the month I began lifting weights. I found an 8 week workout routine online and started following it. This is where my love for lifting weights began!

tattoo

In June I got my second tattoo and I absolutely love it! I have to say my foot hurt much worse than this one. Thinking about getting another one, they’re addictive.

I finished my Masters in July! This was a huge accomplishment and I was so happy to be done. All the hard work payed off and I finally had the degree to prove it.

us gorgeous me2 2013-09-17 14.05.03

In September David and I went to Hawaii! It was AMAZING and we had a blast. It’s everything you think Hawaii would be and more. It was such a lovely trip that went by way too fast, but I am so happy that we got to go. Also in September Tone It Up shared my transformation story. In 2013 I vowed to get in shape and stick with it. I wanted to actually do what I had always been saying. No more half way stuff I wanted to give it 100% and I DID! I accomplished  my goals and was finally in the shape I wanted to be in.  I am always grateful to Karena and Katrina for inspiring me to get fit and make it my passion!

In November I got a new job! I got a job with a company that I had been wanting to work for since 2009. The opportunity kind of fell into my lap being that I was happy with my current job at the time. Even though I finished my masters in July I wasn’t looking for a new position. I was content and happy with the company I was working for. Then an opportunity came my way that I couldn’t pass up . It was the job that prompted me to go back to school, its what I had been working towards for so long!

December was a great month. I threw David a surprise 30th birthday party. I was so happy that I was able to pull it off and all of his friends and our family was able to make it and celebrate with us. I got two weeks off from work and got to spend time with my loved ones. David and I hosted our first Christmas dinner and we had 30 people at our house! It was a huge success and I felt extremely blessed to have everyone together in my home.

I just love reflecting back at all the great things that happened last year. It reminds me of how blessed I am. Of course my year had some downfalls as well, it is life after all. I just choose not to focus on those moments. They are just minor road bumps along the way. I feel like if I focus on the good things it will make me look forward to the new things to come!

I am hoping to get back in to blogging on a regular basis and sharing more with you guys! Let me know what you would like to see on the blog, I am always open to suggestions!

I would love to hear some of the highlights and accomplishments that happen to you in 2013. Let me know in the comments below.
